Hello! You may have erroneously arrived at this page thinking we are handing out donations. I wish that was so, as there are no people we'd rather please than our precious fans.
While we are launching a Kickstarter campaign next year, in February, and hope you will think of us when you see the tweets reminding you of how many days are left, we wouldn't exactly hate you if you came to this page thinking of throwing a dollar or two our way.
Why is that you might ask?
Being an unfunded indie development team, working on a unique and ambitious game concept that even AAA developers would struggle with, is no easy feat. We plan to stay grounded and deliver on our promises, even if you don't have any money to spare.
However, we're not rich well-to-do'ers living in giant mansions with top hats made of solid gold. In fact, some of our team members don't have working equipment to even run the game we're developing. Hosting fees are becoming increasingly burdensome, and there are a lot of associated costs with game development that they don't advertise before you become a developer yourself.
Our webmaster, Leon, is in fact living in a cardboard box and has to walk miles every day to the nearest internet cafe just to update this website. Okay, that may be a slight exaggeration, but needless to say, with everyone having to work on the side to bring Biota™ to your computers, every little bit counts and makes a difference.
Should you choose to click that shiny, golden donate button above this text, know that not a penny, ichi-en kōka, centavo, or whatever currency you're used to, will be wasted.
And from all of us, a big thank you for being interested in our game, regardless of whether you are able to donate or not, you mean the world to us!
